BigCommerce to Shopify

BigCommerce to Shopify migration, for a fixed $1,250

$1,250 · up to 300 products · 3 to 4 weeks · prices in US dollars

The short answer

We move BigCommerce stores to Shopify for a fixed $1,250 in US dollars: up to 300 products and 1,000 variants, your customers and order history, and every BigCommerce address redirected to its Shopify page. Modifier options, customer groups, price lists and reviews aren’t in BigCommerce’s CSV files, so the written scope says how each one moves.

Key facts

As of October 2026

  • A BigCommerce to Shopify migration costs $1,250 (USD) for up to 300 products and 1,000 variants, typically in 3–4 weeks.
  • BigCommerce exports products, customers and orders as CSV files. Customer passwords can’t be exported.
  • BigCommerce allows up to 600 variants per product, plus modifier options that have no SKU or stock. Shopify allows 3 options and 2,048 variants.
  • BigCommerce’s CSV files don’t carry modifier options, shared options, price lists or reviews.
  • With BigCommerce’s short URLs, products sit at the root of the site (/{product}/). On Shopify they move to /products/{product}, so each one needs a redirect.
  • Shopify’s free Store Migration app doesn’t support BigCommerce.

What can you export from BigCommerce?

Products export to CSV from Products › Export, with their variants, images and custom fields. Customers export from Customers › Export, with their addresses, customer group and store credit, but not their passwords. Orders export from Orders › Export Orders.

Some things don’t come out in the CSV files at all: modifier options, shared options, bulk pricing, price lists and reviews. BigCommerce moves those, and its web pages and blog posts, through its API or its own apps instead.

How do BigCommerce addresses map to Shopify?

BigCommerce lets you choose short or long addresses under Settings › URL Structure; Shopify uses fixed beginnings. Either way, nearly every address changes:

  • Products: /{product}/ (short) or /products/{product}/ (long) becomes /products/{product}.
  • Categories: /{category}/ or /categories/{category}/ becomes /collections/{category}.
  • Web pages: /{page}/ or /pages/{page}/ becomes /pages/{page}.
  • Brand pages and blog posts each get their own line in the map.
  • BigCommerce’s 301 redirect manager exports your existing redirects as CSV, so they’re folded into the new map and point straight at the new pages.

What doesn’t map one to one?

  • Modifier options, such as text fields, file uploads and add-on checkboxes. They have no SKU or stock on BigCommerce and no product option on Shopify, so they’re rebuilt with an app or in the theme.
  • Products with more than 3 options. A BigCommerce product can have up to 600 variants, which fits within Shopify’s 2,048, but Shopify allows only 3 options, so those products need restructuring, and the scope says how.
  • Customer groups and price lists. They’re rebuilt with Shopify B2B, whose features depend on your plan, and anything beyond the package is quoted separately.
  • Reviews. They aren’t in BigCommerce’s CSV files; they come out through its review export app or API, and on Shopify they need a review app.
  • Gift certificates and saved cards. Saved payment methods can’t be transferred, and gift cards move to Shopify through an app or its API, right before launch.
  • The theme. BigCommerce’s Stencil themes and Shopify’s themes use different template languages, so the design is rebuilt in the Shopify theme.

Does Shopify’s own app handle BigCommerce?

No. Shopify’s free Store Migration app doesn’t list BigCommerce, and Shopify no longer has a BigCommerce guide of its own. Its general guide offers CSV files, migration apps, a Shopify Partner or its API.

Can I move from BigCommerce to Shopify myself?

Yes, with CSV files and an app for the orders, though Shopify has no BigCommerce guide and its Store Migration app doesn’t list BigCommerce. Shopify’s general migration guide and BigCommerce’s Help Center give these steps:

  1. Export your products: Products › Export, then Start export, and download the CSV file.
  2. Export your customers: Customers › Export, as CSV. Passwords can’t be exported.
  3. Rework both files into Shopify’s product and customer CSV templates, then import them in Shopify: Products › Import first, then Customers › Import. Modifier options aren’t in BigCommerce’s file, so they’re rebuilt.
  4. Bring order history across with a migration app or Shopify’s API, if you want it: Shopify doesn’t import orders from a CSV file. Import products first, then customers, then orders, and turn off Shopify’s new-order emails first, or your staff get one for each order imported.
  5. Set up your theme, shipping, taxes and payments, then place a few test orders.
  6. Export your existing redirects from BigCommerce’s 301 Redirects page (Export All, then Start export), so old links can go straight to the new pages.
  7. Add the redirects before the domain moves, as Shopify advises: in Shopify, Content › Menus › URL redirects, one at a time or by importing a CSV file. Each product, category and page address goes to its /products/, /collections/ or /pages/ address.
  8. Then connect your domain: in Shopify, Settings › Domains › Connect existing domain, and change the domain’s A and www CNAME records to Shopify’s. Or transfer it to Shopify, with the transfer code from the company you registered it with. Save a copy of its DNS records first, email (MX) records included, because Shopify doesn’t copy them. A .co.uk domain can’t be transferred to Shopify, so it’s connected instead.

From Shopify’s migration guide, the Store Migration app’s listing, BigCommerce’s product export page, its customer export page, its 301 redirects page, Shopify’s URL redirects page, Shopify’s page on connecting a domain and Shopify’s page on transferring a domain, checked on 28 October 2026.

When is it worth paying for a move from BigCommerce?

Done yourself, what’s outside BigCommerce’s CSV files is the work: modifier options, customer groups, price lists and reviews each need a Shopify app or setting, and products with more than 3 options are rebuilt.

If your store is small, with simple products and not much search traffic to protect, Shopify’s own steps are enough, and you don’t need us. Paying makes sense when there are hundreds of products to restructure, history to keep, or no time to check it all: the package is $1,250 in US dollars for up to 300 products, with the redirect map, a written rollback and thirty days of fixes.

What else do people ask?

How much does a BigCommerce to Shopify migration cost?

$1,250 in US dollars for up to 300 products and 1,000 variants, with the redirect map included. The Shopify subscription and any app fees are separate, and you pay them to Shopify.

How do I export my BigCommerce store to Shopify?

Export products from Products › Export and customers from Customers › Export as CSV files, rework them into Shopify’s CSV templates and import them, products first. Orders move only through a migration app or Shopify’s API, and modifier options, price lists and reviews aren’t in BigCommerce’s files.

Will my existing BigCommerce redirects carry over?

Yes. BigCommerce exports its 301 redirects as CSV, so they’re folded into the new redirect map, pointing straight at the new pages rather than through a chain.

What happens to my customer groups and price lists?

They’re rebuilt, not copied: Shopify’s customer import has no group column, and its price lists are part of Shopify B2B, whose features depend on your plan. The scope says how, and anything beyond the package is quoted separately.

Will my customers need new passwords?

Passwords never move between platforms: Shopify can’t import them. With Shopify’s current customer accounts there’s no password to set, because customers sign in with a one-time code sent by email.

What do I pay upfront?

Half. The rest at launch. If you’ve been burned before, that’s the point of the split.
